Don't Let The Pigeon Steal Your Halloween Candy

Do you remember two years ago, when I made Creed the Pigeon from our Favorite picture book, Don't Let The Pigeon Drive the Bus?  Well, guess what Creed was sure he wanted to be this year for Halloween . . . you guessed it, the Pigeon.  And of course the costume is WAY too small so I had to make a new one, but it was worth it because he was very excited about his new costume.
I purposely made it too big because if he wants to be the Pigeon again next year, I am not making another pigeon costume.
I made a couple of improvements to the costume (thanks to some help from my mom who happened to have some stiff fleece interfacing for the tail), but the biggest improvement is this time we had the Duckling from the books too!
Here's an illustration from The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog incase you don't know what I'm talking about (In which case, you're missing out on the best book series ever.  Guaranteed to make your toddler giggle)

Ollie made a really sweet Duckling.

Who wouldn't succumb to The Pigeon's charms?
Creed made it trick-or-treating to all of four houses before he said he was finished and wanted to go home.  I told him we were going to stop by two more houses on our way home so my mom, who was with us, could say hi to her friends.  At both houses when they offered him candy, he replied, "No, thank you!"  How can he possibly be related to Larry, the Candy King?

LOVE IT!!!! Any chance you would be willing to do a tutorial on how to make it? That book is one of my favorites (even before my little guy came along) and I would love to try to make it for him next year. I have zero sewing skills, but I can follow directions really well :)

Thanks,

Hello! What awesome costumes! So my son asked to be The Pigeon this year and the first thing I did was google costumes. Yours was the 1st hit! So great! Did you use a pattern of any sort? I was thinking a hoodie pattern and modify it?

Any recommendations would be great!

This costume is great! I'm hoping to have my son be the pigeon for Halloween but I haven't had any luck finding a pattern. Any chance you'd be willing to share your pattern or a tutorial? I am completely inexperienced at sewing so looking at a tutorial might make me realize I'm in over my head.

Could me email me your response either way: pkchavez77@gmail.com

Thanks so much!

So curious to know if you've ever shared your pattern or any tips with all these adoring commenters! I'm in the same boat and would LOVE to know how you made this. My kindergartners would die if I came to school in this Halloween costume :D.

I *LOVE* literary costumes, and the pigeon books are great. Costumes are superb and duckling so squishy cute.

I frequently think/say, "It's a taste sensation!"
