It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween

I pulled out my Halloween decorations last weekend. I haven't had time to finish decorating, but I did get a few things up. It's making me feel festive. I think it's time to buy some pumpkins.

I love these little witches too. They’re reproductions of paper mache sculptures by Lori C. Mitchell. Her website is http://www.ladeedahfolkart.com/ , but she only sells her orginals there and they are way out of my price range. She lists a few retailers of reproductions on her site or if you Google her name you can find them all over like here http://www.christmastraditions.com/Merchand/LaDeDa/LaDeDa.htm or here http://www.bayberrycove.com/fall1.html but when I’ve seen them in store they’re usually a little cheaper than those sites. I’m not a huge fan of her Christmas stuff, but I love her Halloween decorations and her nursery rhyme/fairly tale characters.

If you're in Columbus you can usually find them at the Wren house in Worthington. They sell out really fast every year, but they'll order more for you if you ask about them. If you're in Utah you can find them at Evan's Frontier Store. I've never been there, but my mom and sisters rave about their Halloween decorations.

Your decorations are too cute for words!

My husband and I vacationed in Ohio last year and we fell in love with it!

He served his mission there and he fell in love with it all over again.

We mainly stayed in the Chagrin Falls area.

We are hoping to some day move back to that area.

So jealous of you! :)

I forgot to tell you - 2 weeks ago when I went to Wal-Puke I saw they had pumpkins and I was going to tell you but I think it was the day before Rachel's shower so too early for Halloween decorating. But now...

The picture of your fireplace sure shows off your green walls. I love how they look.

Ok Steph, let's see more of your decorations. I know you have more. I went to grandma Borup's house today and she had made a great halloween display. You would really like it. I told her about your halloween tree and she bought you some great glass halloween ornaments for it. Merry Christmas from grandma. I will try and get them mailed off to you. You are going to love them...Love, mom

I love your walls! Again I am thinking paint. What color is that and how did you do those cool stripes? Your decorations are too cute.

I don't remember the name of the color of this wall but my kitchen is just a shade lighter and it's Laura Ashley Apple, but I don't remember which number (they have 1 - 6). The stripes are actually not that hard to do. I painte the whole wall with flat paint, then I waited a day for it to dry, then I taped off the lines, and this is the critical part, I use expensive painters tape and went over all of the edges of the tape with a credit card to make sure it was tight to the wall so the paint wouldn't bleed. After that I painted the striped in the exact same color paint with a glossy finish instead of flat finish. I was worried that the stripes wouldn't show up and I almost bought a slightly different shade of paint, but it turned out really well. I painte two coats of the glossy finish and then I pulled the tape off after about half an hour so it wasn't completely dry when I pulled it off or it would tear the paint. Let me know if you have more questions.
