Snow Totoro

A few weeks ago, we woke to lots of snow, but we were disappointed when we ran outside and the snow wouldn't pack together to make a snowman.  We decided not to give up and brought the snow inside and made mini snowmen, which Creed might have liked even better than real snowmen because he got to stay in his jammies.  When they were done, we moved them onto our porch railing so they could live a longer, happier life.
By the time Creed got home from pre-school, the snow was wet enough to make a snowman, but by then Creed has bigger plans: he wanted a snow Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro is a very popular movie around here) so I gave it my best shot.
And yes, Creed would not let me take his picture with Totoro until he was wearing my rainboots and a "Princess skirt" (which is really his blankie tied around him).  He makes me laugh every day.
Larry said all the neighbors would think Totoro was just a bunny, and most of them probably did, but the next day our neighbors told Creed they loved his Totoro so I got to gloat just a little bit to Larry!

Frosty the Caterpillar

Creed and I have a tradition just for the two of us.  Every time we wake up and see piles of fresh snow outside our window, we are giddy.  We rush out to check the snow to see if the conditions are good for making snowmen.  If they are, we dance the morning away until Ollie settles down for a nap and then we hurry out to see what we can create before Ollie wakes up or we get too cold or hot chocolate beckons to us.

Today was just such a day.
I thought we needed to put out a bunch of Creed and Ollie's boots to give him feet, but Creed is the artistic director and he rejected that idea firmly.

Creed has a tradition of his own, he eats as much snow as he possibly can.  I abstain.
PS- Larry would like to send a special thank you to Lisa and Tyler for the snowman kit.  We didn't pilfer Larry's hat or scarf while he was at work this time!

Around here the first big snowstorm of the year means . . .

The first big snowman!
Creed was so excited to go out there to make a snowman, but he had to wait a few days because he's been sick.  He finally go the go ahead yesterday.
I love that this has become our tradition and he looks forward to it as much as me.  I also love this snowman's super sparkly smile.
The best part was that our neighbor Tyler came out to make a snowman too so there are two happy snowmen out on our lawn!

April?

Um, I did not expect to wake up to this in April.
But Creed and I decided to take advantage of the snow and hurried out to make one last snowman.

And as long as Creed is going to insist on eating the snow, we might as well use it to make snowcones.
Meanwhile, Ollie looked like this.

Another Snow Storm, Another Snowman

Creed and I were surprised to wake up to a few inches of snow yesterday. It was melting quickly so we hurried to bundle up. I guess after our past snowmen, Creed has become somewhat of an expert and he decided that this snowman wasn't quite right.
So we added a scarf and changed his mouth
And Creed was satisfied.
Too bad this happy snowman melted away a few hours later.

Happy Monday

I don't know if he's as happy as last year's snowman, but he certainly made us smile.Creed was very specific that this snowman must have a green nose and a yellow hat so this was the best that I could do.
