A Cure For The Blues

I've been collecting random odds and ends that remind me of Lisa for quite some time, but I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them. Then I got an email from her right before I was headed down to Provo that said she was feeling down so I hatched a plan to cheer her up.These are the things that I had on hand for her: A cute bird tray from Ikea (it looked Charlie Harperesque to me), a tiny kite (Lisa loves kites more than anyone that I know), a striped thermos from Ikea, pretty paper straws, striped pencils, polka dot packing tape, cheery To Do Lists . . .
Colorful crepe paper, a brightly-colored rubberband ball, a felt flower barrette that I made (more about that later), teeny tiny people for Lisa to add to her terrariums (from a model train store), cascarones, and a banner that I put together for her (more about that later too!)

I quickly made some paper flags with a little explanation for each item.
Then, Creed, Ollie, and I headed to Lisa's with all these things and a great big ball of yarn (thanks Tyler for making sure that she wouldn't be home). I got the idea to make a yarn trail from Jordan. We started on Lisa's porch with a little bunting flag that said "Follow Me"
Then we wound it around the side of her house and all over her beautiful backyard.
every so often we stopped and added an item, winding the yarn around it a few times, and taped the flag for each item around the yarn.

Creed was a great helper, but if I ever do this again I will wait for a cooler day! The sweat was worth it to cheer Lisa up though.

  3. I once had a friend cure my blues with a few cute gifts and I can assure you that I have never forgotten that kind gesture. You are a great friend indeed! I really love that you had been thinking about your friend before she was even feeling down so you could be prepared.
