And how do you keep track of things that you want to remember online? Do you bookmark them all (I have more things bookmarked than I care to admit)? Do you print them out and keep them in a binder? Do you use another site like Delicious to bookmark things? Today I decided to take one small step and try Tumblr to bookmark things. My site is simplyradiant.tumblr.com. It seems so much like blogging that I'm not sure that I like it. At this point, I'm not sure if I will keep it up. You can upload one picture to each post and add a link to the site it's from so you can click on the picture to get to the site. I like having a visual reminder of what I bookmarked, but I wish that I could just have set categories to put them in like clothing, sewing tutorials, decorating ideas, etc.
Feel free to check out my site although several of those things may end up on my blog sooner or later.
I don't know much about tumblr, but I just set up a blogspot blog and call it "My Filing Cabinet." I just cut and paste into it, including the URL and photos, etc. Then, I can make as many categories as I want-- recipes (your pie in a jar idea), party ideas (your yellow party is in there), teacher gift ideas, parenting advice, sewing tutorials, etc. I LOVE IT. :O)

I don't tumble, but I do use a google thing for blogs and I have way too many bookmarks too. I have them organized in folders like fun things to do, things I want in my house one day, blogs I read, photography I like, how to do photography, etc, etc.
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way: I want that slide staircase. So cool.
Hi ! I'm a big fan of your blog and I think I have commented before. I don't know anything about tumble. I LOVE and use google reader. It is the BEST. I follow MANY blogs and if I like a post or see a craft, project or recipe I like, I can tag it in a categorized folder for when I have time to come back to it later. My friend Kami explained it a little better on her blog:

Go check it out, it's a great post!
amy:)
thanks for stopping by my blog the other day and for the kind words you left for me there!
ReplyDeletei'm terrible at keeping track of things online too. i have about 30 folders for bookmarks of different kinds but sometimes when i'm bookmarking i'm lazy and don't tag it so i end up having a folder called "design" with another 50 things in it. it is kind of fun to go through and find sites you had completely forgotten about, though. like digging through your closet and finding a great shirt you forgot you had!
what fun things you have. I made two shirt dresses for Ellie and Moira using the tutorial link you have. It's easy to follow, but I'm not in love with the neckline. I'm sure I'll keep experimenting. Right now all my ideas are bookmarked and not very well organized. I'm interested in a better way to keep track, too.
ReplyDeletePS: I want a rocket ship like the cardboard one. So cool.
I use speedtile.net for my bookmarks. I have tons and tons of bookmarks and a very visual person so this is a huge help to me. I have everything organized by category and tags.
ReplyDeletei just use the Add to Favorites feature and set up different folders for the various topics: crafting, scrapbooking, home decor, sewing, places to visit, etc.
ReplyDeleteheaded to check out your links.
