After breakfast we headed to the Orange County Children's Literature festival. This is Creed checking out a baby zebra at the petting zoo. Then Larry decided Creed needed to be introduced to Ikea. I can't believe that I took this picture with my old point-and-shoot camera!
Then it was on to our second book signing of the week to meet Jon Scieszka author of the several fabulous picture books including the oh so wonderful The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, as told by A. Wolf. I'll have to blog more about it on my child lit blog later.
Afte rthe signing went went to and ice cream social for Larry's mom's ward. We left a little early to visit the parents of Larry's best friend from high school so Larry could show off Creed. I love seeing how proud Larry is of Creed.
Did I mention that this was Larry's birthday? Larry's mom told him to pick any restaurant he wanted for his birthday dinner and of course he decided to go back to In N Out. After scarfing it down we made it to see Transformers at the dollar theater, which may seem like a lame way to celebrate, but Larry really wanted to see it so I think he was happy.
Larry does look happy at how he got to celebrate his birthday. :) I love the top picture how the sign says "Don't feed fingers to the zebra" with two hands sticking in the fence. Very cute. :)
ReplyDeleteJon Scieszka looks like the kind of guy I would have pictured would write "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs."
I can't believe you got to meet two of your favorite authors this trip! You lucky duck!
ReplyDeleteI second that - you are SUCH a lucky duck! Now, for my favorite pumpkin pancake recipe (compliments of Martha):
ReplyDeletePumpkin Pancakes
Whisk together 1 1/4 cups of flour; 2 Tbsp sugar; 2 tsp baking powder; 1/2 tsp each cinnamon, ground ginger and salt; 1/8 tsp nutmeg; and a pinch of ground clove. In a separate bowl, stir together 1 c milk, 6 Tbsp canned pumpkin puree, 2 Tbsp melted butter and 1 egg. Fold mixture into dry ingredients. Melt butter over medium heat and pour 1/4 c batter for each pancake. Enjoy!!
